CLE and Social Networking Reception

Please join the Oregon State Bar Corporate Counsel Section during the afternoon of Thursday, April 26, 2018, at The Standard Insurance Center, 900 SW Fifth Avenue, Portland, OR 97204, for a CLE program on conducting cyber-threat risk assessments, and protecting intellectual property (with a focus on trade secrets) and mitigating risks for corporate travelers. A Social & Networking Reception will follow at the conclusion of the CLE program sponsored by K&L Gates.
Steve Cash, Talus Group – who will speak about: Mitigating Risk to your IP for Corporate Travelers. U.S. businesses experience significant profit and market loss due to the theft of trade secrets. Foreign companies seek to steal U.S. trade secrets–particularly theft of sensitive information pertaining to research and development, production processes, and corporate strategies–to erode U.S. companies’ overseas market competitiveness and technological leadership. By so doing, they also try to outmaneuver or underbid U.S. companies, hoping to tilt the playing field in their favor. This multi-dimensional threat is not confined to particular industries or countries and will increase for the foreseeable future.
And a representative of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Cyber-Security Division – who will speak about: Cyber Threat Landscape. Cyber threats to Oregon-based businesses, schools and government agencies are increasing. The leaders of every organization should be aware of the threats in order to conduct accurate risk and vulnerability assessments. Corporate counsel plays a critical role in advising executive leadership and preparing an organization to effectively manage a cyber incident and maintain resiliency.
