The Oregon State Bar Corporate Counsel Section held a CLE and network reception on the afternoon of Thursday, April 26, 2018, at The Standard Insurance Center. The event focused on conducting cyber-threat risk assessments, and protecting intellectual property (with a focus on trade secrets) and also mitigating risks for corporate travelers. A Social & Networking Reception followed at the conclusion of the CLE program sponsored by K&L Gates.
On June 7, the Oregon State Bar Corporation Counsel Section held an interactive CLE on Equity-Informed Mediation & Conflict Resolution: Negotiating Agreements with Facilitative Mediation. Facilitative Mediation supports parties in directly working through conflict and negotiating their own lasting agreements while sitting at the same table. During this session, we learned what makes this a cost-effective strategy, including some of the basic tools used by the mediators to encourage settlement and overcome impasse. Immediately following the CLE, we enjoyed a great networking lunch with our colleagues.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for pizza and a screening of “Dirty Money: Hard Nox” followed by a great discussion of the role of corporate counsel when there is a business decision with ethical implications. As always, a very special thank you to our sponsor, K&L Gates, for providing the screening room and beverages.
